About FromSketchToShelf
Hi, I’m Leon Ruparčič
I’ve spent years in manufacturing and engineering. I grew up in this world. I understand what the market needs because I’ve lived it.
I’ve worked with:
- CNC shops drowning in orders, struggling to find capacity
- Startups desperately searching for prototype manufacturers
- Suppliers with machines sitting idle 40% of the time
- Buyers making 17 calls and getting 0 responses
I’ve analyzed the entire market. How it reacts. How to get customers. How products move from sketch to shelf. I’ve seen the chaos when a machine breaks down mid-production.
I’ve watched colleagues rush to deliver parts for companies like Rimac - from inquiry to delivery in 1 day (Friday 3 PM to Monday 10 AM).
I’ve experienced the pain firsthand:
- Not having time to even call 10 suppliers when everything is urgent
- Spending €50,000/year on marketing with minimal ROI
- Living for the company, sacrificing everything else
- Depending on one supplier who lets you down at the worst moment
The Breaking Point
Then came the opportunity I had worked towards my entire career.
I was offered the position of Sales Director.
A signed contract. My dream role. Working with new products - the area where I had grown, where I truly understood what the market needed.
I held that contract in my hand.
And I burned out.
Not because I didn’t want it.
Not because I couldn’t do it.
But because the system was killing me.
All those previous struggles:
- Racing against time to find suppliers
- Not being able to make 10 calls because everything was “urgent”
- Living and breathing for the company
- Watching great opportunities slip away because the infrastructure didn’t exist
I couldn’t do it anymore.
So I made a decision.
Why This Blog Exists
I stopped. I stepped back. And I asked myself:
“What would I have needed to NOT burn out?”
The answer was clear:
- A way to find suppliers in 1 hour, not 3 days
- A system to get solution in 1 day, not 1 week
- Access to capacity when I needed it
- Connection without middlemen taking 20%
- Solutions that actually work, not theory
That’s why I built FromSketchToShelf.
This blog - and what’s coming next - is everything I wish existed when I was drowning in work.
It’s for every person who:
- Can’t find time to call 10 suppliers
- Is living for the company instead of building a life
- Knows they’re one machine breakdown away from disaster
- Is heading towards burnout and doesn’t know how to stop it
